The Bank of Thailand plans to relax foreign exchange rules, raising the limit for individual offshore investment to US$10 million from $5 million and the cross-border transfer limit to $200,000 from $50,000. The measures are scheduled for the third quarter and aim to stabilise the baht and expand yuan-baht settlement.
The policy changes affect capital flows and currency settlement rather than physical feed supply. They may modestly ease baht volatility that feeds into import costs for Thai buyers.
