IFFO reports cumulative fishmeal production in the first five months of 2023 down more than 10% year over year. Peru's output fell about 50% because its first fishing season has not been authorized, and fish oil output fell 22%.
China's domestic output also remains weak and it is importing more fishmeal.
The supply shortfall from Peru and China's import demand tighten global fishmeal availability and support higher fishmeal prices for feed formulators.
