Iowa State's Egg Industry Center reports processing, cartoning and transportation costs for inline eggs averaged about US$0.56 per dozen in 2022, up from US$0.47 in 2021. The increase was driven mainly by larger grade yield losses as large eggs carried bigger price premiums over medium and small eggs.
The study describes cost structure within the egg packing sector rather than a shift in supply or demand. It has little direct effect on feed or commodity prices.
