Maersk will revise its Panama Canal Surcharge for all cargo transiting the canal from August 3, 2023, on several trade lanes. The new tariff is US$175 per 20-foot container and US$305 per 40-foot container for dry and reefer cargo.
A higher canal surcharge raises the delivered cost of containerised feed ingredients and other agricultural cargo on Latin American and US East Coast lanes, supporting ocean freight prices.
