European lysine hydrochloride prices rose into September 2023 as downstream feed and food demand and local inquiries increased. Chinese producers were regaining production momentum, and higher input costs supported the upward trend through mid-September.
European suppliers, however, struggled to grow sales volumes amid inflation and supply chain disruptions.
Lysine is a key synthetic amino acid in feed formulation, so rising prices raise the cost of compound feed for buyers. Stronger Chinese output could partly cap the increase if supply recovers faster than demand.
