The EU Commission has amended Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 to set end points for some animal by-products used in fertiliser. Category 2 and 3 ash and biogas plant residues are now considered end points as organic fertilisers, while other by-products still need to meet the fertilising products regulation.
Further fertiliser regulation changes are still needed before most animal by-products can enter fertiliser markets, so the near-term effect on feed ingredient supply and prices is limited.
