A Canola Council of Canada review of 20 years of research finds canola meal is a high-quality protein for dairy cows. It supports palatability at up to 24% of the diet without losing dry-matter intake, and it says canola meal also reduces methane emissions.
The review may increase dairy nutritionists' use of canola meal as an alternative to soybean meal and distillers' grains, but it has no immediate effect on prices.
