Manitoba's provincial summary estimates barley yields of 70 to 80 bushels per acre, above Statistics Canada's official 63.9 bpa for the province. Saskatchewan's final crop report puts its yield 10.5 bpa above the federal estimate, and Alberta's dryland estimate is slightly higher.
Combined provincial figures sit well above Statistics Canada's September estimate.
If provincial estimates prove right, Canadian barley supply is larger than official figures suggest, adding pressure on feed barley prices. Feed buyers may find more domestic supply available than the federal numbers imply.
