Feed and ingredient companies Skretting, Cargill and BioMar said they hope Peru's second anchovy season will help restock fishmeal and fish oil supplies, which they describe as critically low. Peru authorised a 1.682 million metric ton quota, 26% lower than last year.
Skretting said it had prepared for a lower quota.
Industry buyers expect the season to ease the tight fishmeal and oil supply, but the reduced quota limits how much relief it can provide, so prices may stay firm.
