Peru's Ministry of Production authorised the second anchovy fishing season in the north-central area from 26 October 2023, with a quota of 1.682 million tons. That is 26% below the 2022 quota of 2.283 million tons.
Imarpe measured anchovy biomass at 7.18 million tons, 7.8% above the 1996-2022 winter-spring average.
The reduced quota tightens fishmeal and fish oil supply for feed makers, which supports prices for these protein and lipid ingredients.
