DTN's weekly retail fertilizer survey shows seven of eight tracked fertilizer prices rose month over month in the third week of October, with UAN28 up 6% to $447/ton. Urea was the only decline, slipping from $675 to $674/ton.
A University of Minnesota dataset also found global fertilizer consumption has doubled since 1980.
Persistent retail fertilizer increases raise input costs for feed grain and forage production, which can support corn and wheat prices over time. Urea's slight dip is too small to signal a reversal.
