Bird flu has been confirmed on commercial breeder flocks in Arkansas and Alabama, the first outbreaks in those states in a year. More than 1 million birds have been affected since the US resurgence began in October, and Mexico has restricted poultry imports from affected counties.
Import restrictions on US poultry from affected counties cut export demand for chicken and can pressure broiler prices. Outbreaks in major producing states also raise supply risk for meat processors.
