Canadian canola crushing capacity is set to rise sharply by about the end of 2025, with expansions at two existing Saskatchewan plants and three new plants planned by Viterra, Cargill, and Federated Co-operatives with AGT Foods. About half of Canada's roughly 10 million tonnes of annual canola seed has historically been exported for crushing, and that share is expected to fall.
Canola oil and meal will still depend on export markets.
More domestic crush means more Canadian canola meal supply over the next two years, which weighs on meal prices, while less seed exported for crushing tightens seed flows to US and Asian crushers.
