According to LMIC, steer hide and offal values and cow by-product values have trended lower over the last two months. Cow by-product value fell to $12.54/cwt in the second week of December, with bonemeal down 43% since early October to $376/cwt.
Hog by-product values were relatively flat from April through September.
Lower bonemeal values point to weaker meat and bone meal pricing, which affects the cost of rendered protein in feed. The decline is a continuing trend rather than a new shock, so the effect on feed prices is modest.
