Ukraine has required sunseed export licences since November, and five EU countries extended their sunseed import bans to November 30. Exports in 2023/24 are expected to fall by almost 80% as the 2023 crop is forecast at 14.2 million tonnes with few carry-over stocks.
Tighter seed exports shift supply toward domestic crushers, which supports oil and meal output. The net effect on sunflower meal prices is uncertain, so the direction is treated as neutral.
