Russia's sunflower and rapeseed meal exports to the EU rose more than 16% from July 2023 to early January 2024. Ukraine and Argentina remain the main sunflower meal suppliers to the EU, and total EU meal imports were about 200,000 tonnes higher than the prior season.
The data come from the European Commission.
Larger EU meal imports from Russia and other origins add supply to the European market and weigh on meal prices. Competing origins may face pricing pressure as a result.
