Cotton oil and cotton meal price differences versus soybean oil and soybean meal have narrowed sharply, with cottonseed oil at only about 200 yuan/ton above first-grade soybean oil versus a five-year average near 960 yuan/ton. Cotton meal has risen recently while the gap with soybean meal has shrunk to 100-300 yuan/ton.
Narrow cotton-to-soy by-product spreads reduce the incentive for downstream buyers to choose cotton meal and oil over soy, which can limit demand and cap cotton meal gains in feed markets.
