Kasikorn Research projects the baht could fall to 37 per dollar over the coming year, linked to a weak Thai economy and delayed U.S. rate cuts. Q4 2023 GDP grew 1.7% year-on-year, and government growth estimates for 2023 were cut to 1.9%.
K-Research also lowered its 2024 growth forecast to 2.6%.
A forecast of baht weakness toward 37 would raise the dollar cost of imported feed ingredients for Thai livestock and poultry producers.
