Kazakhstan's government kept its sunflower seed export duty after a meeting with ministries, regional officials and industry groups. Food sunflower seed stocks are about 590-600 thousand tonnes, enough only until July before the October harvest.
The duty keeps seed in domestic crushing, but tight stocks risk plant shutdowns before the new harvest. Reduced crush would tighten sunflower meal supply in the region.
