The Peruvian government has sent a hydroacoustic research cruise from Tumbes to Tacna to assess the north-central anchovy stock. IMARPE will publish a report to guide sustainable use of the resource for the first 2024 fishing season.
The cruise covers waters from 0.3 to 100 miles offshore.
The stock survey will set the expected first-season anchovy catch, a key input for fishmeal supply. Traders will watch the result for signals on whether fishmeal prices keep easing.
