US sanctions on trade in Belarusian potash are being lifted, according to US envoy John Coale after talks with President Lukashenko. The sanctions named Belaruskali, BPC and Slavkali, and no formal update has yet appeared in the Treasury database.
The EU has not followed suit.
Removing US sanctions makes Belarusian potash easier to trade globally, adding supply that could pressure MOP prices. Belarus was already exporting large volumes despite the sanctions, so the effect may be mainly on logistics and pricing.
