Meat & Livestock Australia reports that many co-product prices have fallen over the past year, with tallow down more than 30% from December 2022 to below A$1,300 per tonne. Sheep runners fell to $2 per piece, matching 2020 levels, as lamb supply rose.
Lower tallow prices reflect weaker fuel, cosmetic and food demand and reduce the value of fat ingredients for feed, which pressures animal fat pricing.
