USDA data showed March US egg production rose 1% to 9.29 billion, helped by a higher rate of lay despite fewer laying hens. Egg-type chick hatch fell 4% to 56.5 million, while broiler-type chick hatch rose 1% to 854 million.
Lower egg-type hatch and placements point to tighter future egg supply, while higher broiler hatch signals more chicken supply. Both affect feed demand over coming months.
