CMA CGM will apply a US$35 per TEU War Risk Surcharge to all cargo moving to or from Black Sea countries, effective 9 November 2026, with 1 December for the US and its territories, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America. The carrier cited deteriorating maritime security and the Joint War Committee's expanded Listed Areas.
It also set a US$150 per TEU dangerous goods surcharge on IMDG cargo to Red Sea ports from 27 October.
Added container surcharges raise the cost of shipping feed-related goods to and from the Black Sea, adding to freight pressure on Black Sea supply routes. The effect on grain prices is limited because most grain moves in bulk rather than containers.
