US animal protein prices were mostly steady on May 8, but porcine meat and bonemeal fell across all four regions on diminished interest and buyer pushback. Porcine MBM on the Missouri River was assessed at $340-400 per short ton, down from $355-410.
Weaker porcine MBM prices lower the cost of this protein ingredient in feed formulations, though the decline is modest and confined to one product. Buyers gain some negotiating leverage on the ingredient.
