USDA's Economic Research Service reports that cage-free egg inventories have recovered from their January 2024 low and kept climbing into April. About 13.6 million birds were depopulated in the November 2023 to January 2024 avian flu outbreak, and cage-free prices have returned to a typical range.
Rebuilt egg supply reduces the upward price pressure seen earlier this year, although the layer flock is still exposed to further outbreaks.
