Peru's Ministry of Production set the 2024 maximum anchovy catch for direct human consumption at 150,000 tons. The volume is restricted to canned, frozen, cured and other products authorized for human consumption, and applies to artisanal and small-scale fleets along the coast.
The Institute of the Sea (Imarpe) will monitor biological indicators and bycatch during the season.
This quota is small relative to the 2.475 million-ton indirect-consumption quota, so its effect on fishmeal and fish oil supply is limited. The main price relevance is that it confirms the broader Peruvian season structure.
