Colombia's central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to 11.25% on Friday, its fifth cut since December. The decision passed with four votes for a 50-basis-point cut and two for 75 basis points, and inflation stood at 7.16% in the 12 months through May.
Lower domestic rates can support Colombian economic activity and livestock demand over time, but the rate cut is unlikely to move global feed grain prices. Its effect on the peso is a secondary concern for importers.
