A survey of 142 beef producers across 13 southeastern states found 99 used supplementation for grazing cattle. Half of supplement users relied on byproduct feeds such as whole cottonseed, corn gluten feed and soybean hulls, while the other half used commodity feeds.
Byproduct feed use in the Southeast shows how cost and local availability shape regional demand for cottonseed, gluten and distillers products. The survey does not signal a direct move in commodity prices.
