Ukraine exported almost 3.8 million tonnes of sunflower meal in September 2023 to May 2024, up 23% year on year and the highest September-May figure in four years. The EU took 45% of the volume, with exports to China down 12%.
Strong Ukrainian export flows add supply to the sunflower meal market. The EU's new tariffs on Russian meal from July 1 could push more Ukrainian meal into Europe, which supports sunflower meal prices there.
