Feeder cattle prices at the Dunlap Livestock auction in Dunlap, Iowa, trended lower in the October 30, 2026 session, according to the USDA AMS MyMarketNews report. The sale, identified in the report as a Western Iowa precondition sale, drew a smaller crowd and a lighter offering as farmers were able to return to their fields for harvest.
Total receipts came to 746 head, down from 1,222 head in the prior reported week and 1,441 head in the same period a year earlier. The report noted that no comparison with the previous sale was possible because that sale was not a precondition event, and it also observed that CME feeder futures were taking a downturn that day.
Lower calf prices at a single auction, attributed to wet weather in the weaning pens and volatility in CME futures, point to modestly weaker feeder cattle values.
