USDA APHIS confirmed HPAI on July 16 at a Weld County, Colorado commercial laying flock of 1,313,800 birds, the second Weld County layer farm hit in July after a 1.79 million-bird flock on July 8. Colorado officials also reported four confirmed and one presumed human H5N1 cases among workers culling the flock.
Combined Weld County losses above 3.1 million layers reduce egg supply and can lift egg prices, with limited direct effect on feed grain demand.
