Industry body GOED said Peru's first 2024 anchovy season ended on a high note, with fish oil yield expected at 75,000 to 85,000 tonnes. The season followed a fish oil shortage in which prices rose from $5.83 to $11.12 per kg during 2023 after El Niño cut quotas.
A recovery in fish oil yield signals a looser marine ingredient supply after last year's shortage. Fishmeal prices are likely to soften as the supply outlook improves.
