Peru closed its first 2024 anchovy season in the North-Central zone on July 18 with landings of 2,430,589 metric tons, or 98.21% of the 2,475,000 MT quota. Officials said the season was worth about USD 1.3 billion in export value and followed several difficult years for the fishery.
A near-full quota means strong Peruvian fishmeal and fish oil output after the El Niño-driven cuts of last year. Higher supply should ease the feed protein tightness and put downward pressure on fishmeal prices.
