The US national average diesel price fell 3.7 cents to $3.651 a gallon in EIA data released August 26, the seventh weekly decline, with 21.4 cents lost since mid-July. Prices are down 82.4 cents year over year, with the steepest regional drops in the Rocky Mountains and West Coast.
Gasoline also fell 6.9 cents to $3.313.
Continued declines in diesel costs lower fuel surcharges and haulage expenses for feed ingredient movement. The move reflects softer crude and refining margins rather than a feed-specific shift.
