USDA projects 2024 US sorghum production at 278.81 million bushels, down 38.9 million from 2023 because of lower planted and harvested acreage. Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota show lower production in most cases, and USDA cut demand expectations along with ending stocks.
A smaller US sorghum crop and tighter ending stocks support sorghum prices and could raise the cost of sorghum as a feed alternative to corn.
