Bangladesh's refining companies have proposed raising the maximum retail price of bottled soybean oil by 14 taka per liter, from 204 to 218 taka, citing higher global raw material costs and domestic fuel and transport costs. The Ministry of Commerce had not approved the increase at the time of reporting.
The request reflects firmer international vegetable oil costs passed through to a feed and food importer market, but it is a domestic retail proposal with limited direct effect on global soybean oil prices.
