The US dollar fell against the Vietnamese dong on Monday morning while holding steady against other major currencies. Vietcombank sold dollars at VND24,740, and the State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate by 0.1% to VND24,093.
The dollar index was flat at 100.41.
A softer dong-dollar rate lowers the local-currency cost of imported feed ingredients for Vietnamese buyers, a modest support for their purchasing power. The move is small and does not change global feed prices.
