A Reuters poll expects the Canadian dollar to resume its rally in 2025 if the global economy picks up. The loonie had rallied 3.3% from a near two-year low of 1.3946 per U.S. dollar hit in August, helped by short covering and broad greenback weakness.
The poll forecasts a firmer loonie, which would lower the cost of Canadian-origin imports priced in U.S. dollars. Its direct effect on feed commodity prices is small.
