IFFO reports that fishmeal production in the first half of 2024 rose about 40% year on year, mainly from strong catches in northern-central Peru. Fish oil output was up about 10%, while Chile and Northern Europe landings were mixed and US menhaden catches stayed below 2023 levels.
Higher Peruvian output is adding to global fishmeal supply, which tends to soften fishmeal prices and feed costs.
