The State Bank of Vietnam resumed selling treasury bills on October 18 to withdraw cash and tighten dong liquidity after the currency fell to a multi-week low. The USD/VND interbank rate rose about 2.6% since late September, reaching VND25,200 per dollar.
Tighter dong liquidity aims to support the currency, which would ease import costs for feed buyers if successful. The move signals central bank defence of the dong against dollar strength.
