The EU Council agreed its position to postpone the application date of the EU Deforestation Regulation by 12 months. If Parliament approves, obligations would apply from 30 December 2025 for large operators and traders, and from 30 June 2026 for micro and small enterprises.
The delay pushes back compliance costs and segregation requirements for soy, palm oil, cocoa, coffee and cattle exports to the EU, easing near-term pressure on those supply chains. Palm oil is the most directly affected, so the delay is mildly supportive to its prices.
