The rupee weakened on Wednesday, pressured by dollar demand from public sector banks tied to the monthly currency futures expiry and by importers buying dollars for month-end payments. It traded at 84.4425 per dollar, about 0.1% weaker than the prior close.
The move reflects routine month-end and expiry flows rather than a new shock, so the price effect on Indian import costs is small.
