A University of Saskatchewan engineering professor is developing methods to extract nutrients from canola meal for use in fermentation and food processing rather than selling it at discounted animal feed prices. Mitacs recognized Bishnu Acharya with a research leadership award for this work.
The research is early-stage and does not change current feed supply; any value-added demand for canola meal would only matter if it scaled up, so the near-term price impact is negligible.
