ADM Rice sold 44,000 metric tons of US long grain rice to Iraq, announced on November 8 and due to ship in January. It follows an August Iraqi purchase of the same size and is part of a 200,000-tonne memorandum of understanding for this year.
The sale supports US long grain demand at a time when cheap Indian and Asian supplies are pressuring prices, though its volume is small relative to global trade.
After 189 past bullish trade events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (52% higher; middle half -1.7% to +2.4%), and +1.0% over 20.
