The U.S. Grains Council reports U.S. ethanol prices fell 5.3% in the week ending November 22 and dropped a further 1.2% early the following week. Midwest rack ethanol was quoted at 175 cents per gallon, with FOB Houston at 169.81 cents per gallon.
Brazilian FOB Santos anhydrous ethanol was quoted at 207.23 cents per gallon.
Lower ethanol prices weaken the margin for plants and can reduce their corn grind. Persistently cheap U.S. ethanol may still support export competitiveness.
