Chicago soybean, corn and wheat futures settled higher on Dec 31, 2024 on short-covering and weather concerns in South America and Russia, with soybeans up 18-3/4 cents to $10.10-1/2 a bushel. All three contracts still finished 2024 lower for a second straight year, with soybeans down about 22% and wheat down 12.2%.
Dry weather forecasts for Argentina and poor Russian wheat conditions give some support to prices heading into 2025, but record Brazilian soybean expectations and ample global supplies cap gains.
