India rejected claims by the US-led group, including Argentina, Australia, Canada and Ukraine, that its rice and wheat market price support far exceeds WTO-reported levels. The claims were raised at a WTO Committee on Agriculture meeting held 26-27 November, where members also questioned India's rice export bans and its failure to notify them.
The dispute could pressure India's domestic support policies, but any change is a long way off and is unlikely to move grain prices in the near term.
