FEFAC, the European Compound Feed Manufacturers' Federation, has expressed deep concern over the high provisional EU import duties on Chinese lysine published on 14 January 2025. The federation says the EU sources about 60% of its lysine demand from China with no sufficient alternative supply.
The lack of alternative lysine supply in the EU means the duties are likely to inflate European lysine prices and create market distortions for feed manufacturers.
