A review of China's 2024 cotton linter market shows prices swinging more than 2,000 yuan/mt, with cotton falling about 12.6% over the year and Xinjiang cottonseed down roughly 25%. Linter prices peaked in early June and weakened through the summer as cottonseed meal and oil demand stayed soft.
This is a backward-looking annual review with no new supply or demand shock, so it gives little direct price signal. It does confirm that weak cottonseed meal and oil demand has been a persistent drag on by-product prices.
